Barracuda Appliance Control (BAC) End-of-Life Notice
Barracuda Appliance Control (BAC), a management console within Barracuda Cloud Control (BCC), will reach end of life on February 15, 2027. On that date, the BAC web console and its supporting cloud services will be shut down.
Important: If you use BAC only for Cloud Protection Layer (CPL), no action is required. CPL is not affected by this end-of-life change and will continue to work as it does today.
CPL now appears as its own application in the Barracuda console sidebar rather than under Appliance Control.
Summary
BAC provides a central web console for managing multiple on-premises Barracuda security appliances from one place. After the shutdown date, BAC-specific features such as centralized dashboards, inventory, cloud backup through BAC, user and group management, audit logging, scheduled reports, and remote access into appliance administration pages through the BAC portal will no longer be available.
Your Barracuda appliances themselves are not being discontinued by this notice. They continue to operate normally and can still be managed directly through each appliance’s own web interface.
Products and services affected
This notice applies to customers using BAC with supported on-premises Barracuda products, including:
Barracuda Email Security Gateway
Barracuda Web Filter
Barracuda Web Application Firewall
Barracuda Message Archiver
Barracuda Firewall
Note
This notice applies to the BAC management console and related BAC cloud services. It does not affect the underlying appliance products.
What this means for customers
After February 15, 2027, you will no longer be able to use BAC as a central management console. Instead, you will manage each supported appliance directly through its own hostname or IP address.
BAC centralized management features will be removed. See Features that are going away for details.
BAC-hosted cloud services tied to Appliance Control will be shut down.
Per-appliance administration features continue to work when accessed directly on the appliance.
CPL remains available as its own application and is not affected.
Features that are going away
The following BAC-owned features end when BAC is shut down:
Category | Feature | What to expect after shutdown |
|---|---|---|
Dashboard | Centralized dashboards and rolled-up views | No replacement for the BAC consolidated dashboard experience |
Device management | Connected appliance inventory and BAC-based device management | Manage appliances directly through each device |
User and group management | BAC users, groups, and BAC account-level administration | No BAC replacement. For appliance-specific time zone settings, go to Administration in the Email Security Gateway Basic interface. |
Audit and reporting | BAC audit logs, scheduled reports, and fleet-wide reporting | No BAC replacement. For appliance task details, go to Advanced > Task Manager on the respective appliance. |
Task manager | Running Tasks / Task Errors | For appliance task details, go to Advanced > Task Manager on the respective appliance. |
Cloud backup | BAC cloud backup services and stored backup data
| For appliance backup options, go to Advanced > Backup on the respective appliance. Download your backups from BAC before the deadline. Recommendation: Switch to alternate backup methods available under Advanced > Backup menu (FTP, FTPS, SMB) and download any cloud backups to local storage |
Firmware and definitions | Centralized BAC workflows for updates | BAC update workflows will end. Use the update options available directly on each appliance, unless Barracuda provides product-specific guidance. |
Remote access | Launching appliance administration pages through BAC | Access appliances directly by hostname or IP address |

What happens to BAC cloud backup data?
If you need backup data stored through BAC, plan to export it during the export window that opens on December 15, 2026. Complete exports before February 1, 2027. After the shutdown, remaining data will be deleted according to the retention policy.
