QR Code Template Items

QR codes added into email campaigns can bring mobile device users to a simulated phishing site or allow them to opt out of campaign emails. These are the same landing pages that the {link} and {unsubscribe} Template Items use.

Adding QR codes to an Email Template

As with other Template Items, QR codes are added to Email Templates using the Email Template Manager.

1. Create a new email template or edit an existing one under the menu Campaigns -> Email Templates. See Email Templates for more information.

2. In the editor section on the page, place the cursor in the text box where you would like the QR Code to be inserted.

3. Click on the Content Templates button and highlight either of the new QR Code template tags and click the Insert button.

   1. QR Code Link to Landing Page {qrcode:link} – Generates a scannable QR code that contains your campaign's phishing simulation tracking link, allowing recipients to access the simulated phishing site via mobile device.

      Example: {qrcode:link:size=300:colors=#000000,#FFFFFF} or simply {qrcode:link}

   2. QR Code Link to Unsubscribe Page {qrcode:unsubscribe} – Creates a QR code containing the email unsubscribe link, providing recipients an easy mobile-friendly way to opt out of campaign emails.
      Example: {qrcode:unsubscribe:size=200:colors=#666666,#F0F0F0} or simply {qrcode:unsubscribe}

4. When this Email Template is used in a Campaign that is sending email, the QR Code Image is automatically generated and embedded into the email. It contains the proper link to identify that the recipient has scanned the QR Code.

Customizing the QR Codes

The size and coloring of the QR codes can be customized to some degree. Edit the size or colors attributes as desired.

size – The pixel width can be anywhere from 50 to 1000. Example: size=450

colors – Colors are defined using hexadecimal six-digit codes. A simple internet search can help you find the six-digit code for any color you desire.

In the QR Code template, the first six-digit hexadecimal code defines the color of the QR code. The second six-digit color defines the background color.

Example: the hexadecimal code for light blue is #ADD8E6 and the code for yellow is #FFFF00.
