How to Enable Singe Sign On (SSO) for Logging into Barracuda Firewall Admin

As of firmware release 10.5.0, it is possible to log into Barracuda Firewall Admin via Single Sign On (SSO).

NOTE: As a prerequisite, the firewall must have already been activated as described in the article Get Started.

This article describes the steps for enabling a local administrator to use SAML for SSO.

 

How to Enable Single Sign On (SSO) for Logging into Barracuda Firewall Admin

Enabling SSO (with SAML) for logging into the firewall requires the following major steps:

1. Create a SAML Authentication

For using SAML/ADFS, perform the steps as given in the article How to Configure AD FS/SAML Authentication .

2. Assign the SAML Authentication to a Specific Administrator
  1. Go to CONFIGURATION > Config Tree > Advanced Configuration > Administrators > Accounts, section Administrator Accounts.

  2. Create an administrator for using SSO by performing the steps as given in the article https://cuda.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/cgfv100500/pages/784314927/How+to+Create+a+New+Administrator+Account.

NOTE the next step #3 for entering the correct authentication method!

  1. For the section Administrator Authentication, configure the following fields:

    1. Authentication Level – Password

    2. Password Validation – SAML

    3. External Login Name – Enter the specific email address for the new administrator.

  1. Click OK.

  2. Click Send Changes/Activate.

You can now log into your firewall using SSO.
