Barracuda Backup Agent for Windows, macOS, and Linux Recovery

To restore data backed up using the Barracuda Backup Agent, the Agent must be installed on the restoration target. The exception to this is a file or folder download which does not require the Barracuda Backup Agent to be present. Data can be restored to any target where the Agent is installed, whether or not it was previously backed up with Barracuda Backup.

Cross restores to different agents and operating systems are currently not supported. Windows Agent backups can only be restored to Windows, Linux Agent backups can only be restored to Linux, and MacOS Agent restores can only be restored to MacOS.

Microsoft Windows

The following types of recovery can be performed on Microsoft Windows systems backed up with the Barracuda Backup Agent:

File and folder recovery
File and folder download
Bare metal recovery
Physical-to-virtual recovery
System State recovery
Microsoft Exchange Server database recovery
Microsoft SQL Server data recovery

macOS and Linux

The following types of recovery can be performed on macOS and Linux systems backed up with the Barracuda Backup Agent:
