How to Configure Microsoft Exchange Online Email Import

How to Configure Microsoft Exchange Online Email Import

Exchange Integration connects to Exchange Online through Microsoft-authorized application permissions. This streamlines the configuration process, eliminates the need for a dedicated service account, and removes the extra step of updating permissions when adding new mailboxes.

Prerequisite

  • You must have a Microsoft 365 account with Global Administrator privileges.

Add a New Exchange Online Source

Follow these steps to add a new Exchange Online source:

  1. Log in to the Barracuda Cloud Archiving Service as the admin, and go to Mail Sources > Exchange Online.

  2. Click Start new action. On the Select action page, click Email import.

  3. Click Add new source.

  4. A new pop-up window prompts you to sign in with a Microsoft 365 administrator account. This account is used to authorize the Barracuda Cloud Archiving Service application and grant the required permissions.

  5. Select Consent on behalf of your organization, and then click Accept to grant the required permissions to the Barracuda Cloud Archiving Service application.

  6. You are redirected back to the Select source page. You should now see the new source in the list. Select the new source and click Next.

  7. On the Configure action page, select All users from the drop-down menu, and specify the desired Date setting. Click Next.

  8. Verify the configuration settings on the View summary page, and then click Finish to add the Email Import to the Scheduled Actions table.

Note: Nightly email sync for Exchange Online is no longer supported. To start the import, click the three dots (…) icon next to the action and select Run now.

Edit an Exchange Online Source

To reauthorize the Barracuda Cloud Archiving Service application, edit the existing Exchange Online source and save your changes. You will be redirected to Microsoft to sign in and consent to the permissions. If the source was removed, add a new Exchange Online source.

  1. Log in to the Barracuda Cloud Archiving Service as the admin, and go to Mail Sources > Exchange Online.

  2. Click Start new action. On the Select action page, click Email import.

  3. On the Select source page, click the Edit icon next to the source you want to change.

  4. If needed, change the configuration name and click Save.
