Provide Feedback to Barracuda

Provide Feedback to Barracuda

Feedback can be provided to Barracuda regarding redacted file elements or elements of a file that should have been redacted, but were not. (Reminder: Barracuda will redact any text or data determined to be sensitive.) When providing feedback, select whether the detection and redaction should be reviewed and removed or reviewed, but kept in place.

Before You Begin

The feedback feature is not enabled by default. To activate it for your account, contact Barracuda Support.

Why is this feature opt-in? The feedback workflow requires removing redactions so the reviewer can see the underlying sensitive data and verify whether a detection is accurate. This means any Data Inspector user with admin rights can view unredacted sensitive content – including credit card numbers, social security numbers, and other Personally Identifiable Information (PII) – during the review process. Organizations should evaluate this against their data access and compliance policies before requesting enablement.

How to Provide Feedback for a False Positive Detection

A false positive means Barracuda Networks marked text or data as sensitive, but it should not have been marked. To alert and provide feedback to Barracuda Networks about a false positive, do the following:

  1. On the Detections page, click on one of the rows to see more about that file detection. When the file detail pane opens on the right side, click in the Preview window. (Note: "Preview not available" will be displayed here for malicious files. Feedback cannot be provided for these detections.)

  2. The expanded file detail page will open.

  4. Mouse over the redacted content that requires feedback.

  5. Then click the redacted content. A feedback form will open.

  6. Select one of the following:

    1. Remove detection – The detection will be removed and the content will appear like any non-sensitive content in the file.

    2. Keep detection, but requires review – Your feedback will go to Barracuda Networks, but the detection will remain in place and will still appear as though the content is sensitive.

  7. Include any other information you believe is important in the text box that opens.

  8. Click Submit.

Provide Feedback for a False Negative Detection

A false negative means Barracuda Networks neglected to redact sensitive text or data. To alert and provide feedback to Barracuda Networks about a false negative, do the following:

  1. Follow steps 1 - 3 above.

  2. Find the content in the file preview that should have been designated as sensitive content. Mouse over the preview window, so the Report Issue link appears.

  3. Click Report Issue. A selection square will appear.
