Understanding the Pre-Built Advanced Software Management policy

Barracuda RMM includes two pre-built patch policies; one that is configured to manage third party applications on Windows workstations and Windows servers and another that is configured to manage applications on macOS devices.

You can use the default Advanced Software Management policies as is, or modify them. You can also copy a default policy to use as a starting point to create an entirely new policy.

  • Set up to scan for available software updates every 22 hours

  • Patches are installed according to the applicable Execution Schedules

  • Newly added devices of this policy are not added to a special approval group

  • Automatic inclusion rules pre-set to include devices that are Windows servers or Windows Workstations

Default Advanced Software Management policy for Mac

  • Set up to scan for available software updates every 22 hours

  • Patches are installed according to the applicable Execution Schedule

  • Newly added devices of this policy are not added to a special approval group

  • Automatic inclusion rules pre-set to include devices that are macOS Big Sur or higher
