Shared Services

Shared Services

Shared services, such as Distributed Firewall or Distributed SNMP, are services designed to run on multiple CloudGen Firewalls within the same cluster. On a shared service, you can configure settings that apply globally or are box-specific (e.g., firewall rules).

Starting with firmware 8.0.2, a shared service must be assigned to the Assigned Services node.

Distributed SNMP

The Distributed SNMP service allows administrators to configure and manage SNMP settings for multiple CloudGen Firewalls in a cluster.

For more information, see How to Configure a Shared Service and How to Configure the SNMP Service.

Distributed Firewall

The Distributed Firewall (formerly Cascaded Firewall or cfirewall) is a firewall service distributed across multiple CloudGen Firewalls. It is a variant of the regular firewall service, designed to simplify firewall administration by multiple administrators. The distributed firewall is a shared service and replaces the stand-alone firewall service. You cannot run a distributed firewall service and a stand-alone firewall service together on a box.

For more information, see Distributed Firewall.
