SecureEdge Onboarding Wizard

This article describes the enhanced SecureEdge Onboarding wizard, a generic welcome wizard for all new users. Key highlights include:

  • Simplified process from initial configuration to working policies, with clear prompts and next-step guidance throughout.

  • Streamlined setup across all Access plans including DNS, Internet, and ZTNA in a single, guided workflow.

  • The new Web Filter Policy Wizard, powered by AI to translate your intent into ready-to-use policies during onboarding so you spend less time configuring and more time securing your environment.

Start SecureEdge

  1. After logging in, you will be directed to the SecureEdge welcome wizard, which displays a welcome message and a brief product description. To start, click Start now!.

  2. The Personalization window opens. Specify values for the following:

    • Region – Select the region where your SecureEdge environment will be hosted. You can choose either Europe or North America. Note: This mandatory field determines where the SecureEdge platform stores reporting data.

    • Type of business – Select the option that best describes your organization.

      • School – Educational institutions

      • Corporate – Commercial organizations

      • Government – Public sector organizations

      • Other – Organizations outside the categories above

    • Number of users – Select a value based on the number of users.
      Note: This information personalizes your onboarding experience. You can adjust your settings later as your needs change.

  3. Click Submit.

  4. The What should we solve first ? page opens.

You can now do the following:

  • You can choose the onboarding flow that best fits your needs, or click Skip and get started to get started right away in SecureEdge without any setup.

  • If you have a single Access license pre-setup (such as a trial), the wizard goes directly to the relevant onboarding (DNS or ZTNA). Otherwise, it asks which setup you want before starting the onboarding.

  • Note that if you have already completed the two mandatory steps (Introduction and Personalization) for your account, you can directly choose the onboarding wizard.

The SecureEdge Onboarding wizards are available for the following:

Web Security (DNS Access /Internet Access )

  1. On the What should we solve first? page, in the Web Security section, click Start.

  2. The Web and AI security onboarding page opens.

  3. In the Select the connection type section, you can choose either Agentless connection or Access Agent.
    Note: Select Agentless connection for Zero Trust access via the browser without an endpoint agent. Select Access Agent for agent-based enforcement directly on the device.

    • In this case, select Agentless connection.

      • The Location window opens. Specify values for the following:

        • Location name – Enter the unique name for the location.

        • Description – Enter a brief description.

        • Region – Select a region from the drop-down menu.

        • Type – From the drop-down menu, select an IP type. You can choose between Static, Dynamic, or DNS over HTTPS (DoH). For example, in this case, select DNS over HTTPS (DoH).

  4. The Web security posture allows you to choose your web filtering approach based on your desired balance of security controls, legal exposure, and workflow flexibility.

    • In the Web security posture section, specify values for the following:

      • Security Risk Tolerance – Determines how strictly the system handles potential web threats. Stricter settings block more, which may sometimes restrict access to borderline cases. E.g., set to Medium.

      • Liability Tolerance – Sets the threshold for blocking content that may cause compliance issues or policy violations. Higher settings impose stricter restrictions to reduce organizational liability. E.g., set to High.

      • Productivity Focus – Allows more content categories and applications to pass, keeping workflows smooth. E.g., set to Relaxed.

      • The AI Posture controls user access to AI tools. When set to Allow, specify which AI services are permitted.

        • In the AI Posture section, specify a value for the following:

          • Allow AI – Select Allow.

      • In the Select approved AI tools section, specify a value for the following:

        • Select the AI tool from the drop-down list. For example, in this case, ChatGPT and Claude are selected.

  5. The Setup location window opens. The setup location connects your devices to your DNS location, routing traffic through your configured policies.

  6. After completing the setups, verify that all steps show the status Done, then click Next.

  7. The You are set up! Next steps page opens and displays various options, including:

    • Explore Private Access (ZTNA). Your DNS Access plan includes 10 ZTNA seats.

    • Set up an Identity Provider and user directory for your environment.

    • Add locations with agentless filtering to extend AI and web protection to offices and networks without agents.

    • Customize dashboards and the SecureEdge reporting service.

You can either select an option to go directly to the relevant SecureEdge section to continue setup, or click Get Started with SecureEdge to open the SecureEdge Dashboard.

ZTNA (Private/Premium)

  1. On the What should we solve first? page, in the ZTNA section, click Start.

  2. The ZTNA Onboarding window opens.

  3. The Set up directory and authentication page opens. Complete the following steps:

    • Add a local user directory. To add a user, you must specify the username and email. Click + Add user.

    • After adding the user, click Save.

  4. The Add application window opens. In the Select application type section, specify values for the following:

    • Application Type – Select application type. You can choose either a predefined SaaS application or a custom public application. E.g., Select Predefined application.

    • Application – Select application. E.g., Microsoft 365.

    • Add the application to the application catalog – Add the application to the application catalog that will appear in the SecureEdge Access Agent app for quick access to the application. Specify values for the following:

      • Display Name – Enter the display name.

      • Launch URL – Enter your unique URL.

  5. The Application policy window opens. Note that the application and user have already been selected. Specify values for the following:

    • What device posture should this policy enforce – Select the security features users and devices must fulfill to be able to access this application.

  6. Click Save.

  7. In the Advanced threat protection and TLS inspection section, click Enable.

  9. The Deploy agent window opens. Note that the user has already been selected. Click Save.

  10. After completing the setups, verify that all steps show the status Done, then click Next.

    • Add additional ZTNA Policies.

    • Set up an Identity Provider and user directory for your environment.

    • Add a Connector.

    • Customize dashboards and the SecureEdge reporting service.
