What's New in Barracuda RMM 2023.2

Patching for macOS Applications Included with Advanced Software Management

Patching for macOS applications is now included with Advanced Software Management.

Patching can be done for devices with macOS version Big Sur (11.0) and higher.

Users with Advanced Software Management can now easily patch both Apple apps and third party apps that run on macOS.

Patches that require the user to accept a EULA can’t be patched at this time.

macOS devices that are managed by an Onsite Manager must be prepared with the macOS Prep Utility, version 2023.2 or higher.

Advanced Software Management macOS policies

Advanced Software Management users can create policies to automatically find and patch the macOS applications to keep their users up to date with the latest new features and security patches.

In order to use Advanced Software Management to apply updates, you must purchase an additional license. Contact your Barracuda sales representative.

Also included is a new default policy that contains a set of defaults that applies patches to macOS apps. This default policy has been added to the default Advanced Software Management Service.

The previous default policy has been renamed to reflect that it applies to Windows applications only. The name of the existing policy will be changed on upgrade to 2023.2.

See Creating an Advanced Software Management Policy.

macOS Patch Searching

In addition to policies, you can now search for patches to apply to macOS apps on the Advanced Software Management > Manual Software Approval page and apply them to individual devices or approval groups from there.

See Choosing Which Third Party Patches to Apply.

macOS Patch Filtering on the Patch Report and Device Report Pages

You can now filter the Advanced Software Management Patch Report and Device Report pages by the following platforms:

  • Windows

  • Mac

See Viewing the status of third party patches and Viewing the Third Party Patch Status of Devices.

macOS Supported Versions

Barracuda RMM supports macOS Catalina (10.15) and higher.
