Email Policies
Barracuda Networks is excited to introduce the new Email Protection Policies page, giving you a unified view of how messages are handled and filtered across your environment. This page brings together the same Email Gateway Defense policies you already use into a single, centralized view to quickly see which policies are in effect. Some settings can now be configured directly on the Policies page, while others continue to be managed in Email Gateway Defense.
Note that domain‑level configuration is not supported on the Policies page and must be managed in Email Gateway Defense.
Accessing the Policies page
You can open and review policies from either interface:
From Email Gateway Defense, Impersonation Protection, or Incident Response
Click Open Email Protection in the upper-right corner of the product.
In Email Protection, click Policies in the left-hand navigation.
From Email Protection directly
Go to Policies and select the category you want to configure.
Viewing and managing email policies
Use the Policies page to review and manage your Email Gateway Defense policies.
Some settings, such as suspicious banner, bulk email categorization, sender authentication, and spam score, can be managed directly on the Policies page.
Others are view only and must still be managed in Email Gateway Defense.
For view-only settings, click the external link icon

Bulk email categorization
Sender authentication methods, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, PTR, and handling of no SPF records
Custom policies tailored by sender, IP, region, language, message content filters, and custom RBLs
Links and content through Intent Analysis and Link Protection
Attachment handling
Spam score thresholds
Machine learning for threat detection
What’s added
The items below are new policy settings you can manage on the Policies page and are not configured through Email Gateway Defense, with additional items added as they become available.
Spam score policy control and exemptions
Configure spam score thresholds for quarantine in Email Protection.
Add spam score exemptions for specific senders or domains.
