Searching, sorting, and filtering the Audit log

Searching and filtering the audit log

You have a variety of powerful tools to find what you’re looking for in the audit log.

You can:

  • Search for text you want to find

  • Select a date range

  • Show and hide columns in the table

  • Filter by a column

  • Sort by a column

You can combine these tools. For example, you can hide specific columns in the table, then filter on a column, and do a text search.

Users can only see their own sign in/out records.

To search the audit log
  1. If you’re not on the Audit log page, in the left navigation menu, click Audit log AuditLogButton.png.

  2. Type the text you want to search in the Search field.

To select the date range
  1. If you’re not on the Audit log page, in the left navigation menu, click Audit log AuditLogButton.png.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • In the Date range, type the start and end date range, in the format MMM, DD, YYYY.
      NOTE MMM can be either the number of the month or the first three letters of the month name.

    • Click the Calendar icon and select a start and end date.

    • Click the Calendar icon and select Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, or Last 30 days.

To show and hide which columns appear in the audit log table
  1. If you’re not on the Audit log page, in the left navigation menu, click Audit log AuditLogButton.png.

  2. Click Edit columns EditColumns.png.

  3. Select the check boxes of the columns you want to show.

To filter by columns
  1. If you’re not on the Audit log page, in the left navigation menu, click Audit log AuditLogButton.png.

  2. In one of the column headings, click the Filter icon Filter.png.

  3. If you select Action do the following:

    • Optionally, select or or more of the check boxes.

    • In the Search box, type a search term.

  4. If you select Category, do the following:

    • Optionally, select or or more of the check boxes.

    • In the Search box, type a search term.

  5. If you select Condition, User, or IP address, do the following:

    • Select a Condition.

    • Select a Value.

The table is filtered.

To sort by column

When you sort by column, the records in the table are sorted by that column, in either ascending/alphabetical order or descending/reverse alphabetical order, depending on the column.

  1. If you’re not on the Audit log page, in the left navigation menu, click Audit log AuditLogButton.png.

  2. In any column, click one of the sorting arrows:

This column is not sorted. Click to sort the table by this column, ascending/alphabetical order.

To clear filters

Searching and filtering tools are not persistent. They are cleared if you navigate to another page and won’t be in effect when you return to the Audit Log page.

  1. On the Audit log page, do one of the following:

    • To clear one filter, click the X button ClearFilter.png in the filter.

    • To clear all the filters, click Clear all filters ClearAllFilters.png.
