The DLP/HIPAA compliance engine is powered by the UMLS Metathesaurus, version 2013AA, created by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health. Within the UMLS Metathesaurus, it uses medical vocabulary from:

• DXplain, by Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School

• FMA*, by Structural Informatics Group, University of Washington

• HCPCS, by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

• ICD-9-CM, by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

• MTHICD0, by U.S. National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health

• NCI Thesaurus, by National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health

• VANDF, by U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs

The compliance engine uses only portions of each of the above vocabularies. It also uses vocabulary which is not a part of the UMLS Metathesaurus, developed by the Barracuda Networks research team.
