How to Manage Users
This page describes how to add, modify, and remove users on your Barracuda Cloud Control (BCC) account, including how to set privileges and configure product entitlements.
Before adding users, review Understanding Permissions and Roles to understand the available privileges, entitlements, and roles.
Before adding users to BCC via your organization's LDAP servers, verify that users are enabled, are members of the domain, and that the mail attribute is set for each user. See Active Directory Authentication for details.
Add a User
In BCC, go to Settings > Admin > Users. Click Add User. The new user options display.
In the User Details section, enter the following:
Name – Enter the user's first and last name.
Email – Enter the user's email address. This is used as the sign-in username. The user will receive an email with instructions to configure their password.
If your organization uses LDAP authentication, users are required to use their LDAP credentials to access BCC.
Select a Starting Page. This is the page or product to display when the user signs in.
Use the Multi-Factor Authentication section to manage MFA settings. For details, see Multi-Factor Authentication in Barracuda Cloud Control.
Select user Privileges:
User Management – User can add, remove, and edit user accounts. This privilege is also required to connect appliances via Barracuda Appliance Control.
Billing Administration – User can update account billing information.
Configure Product Entitlements
Product entitlements determine which Barracuda products and services a user can access. For a complete reference of default roles and available permissions for each product, see Understanding Permissions and Roles.
In the Product Entitlements section, turn on the Barracuda products and services this user can access.
Click Save User.
If you enabled Backup or Appliance Control, you can now configure granular permissions using the steps below.
Configure Barracuda Appliance Control Permissions
Click the user's name in the Users table, then click Configure Permissions directly below Appliance Control.
The BASIC > User Management page displays in the Barracuda Appliance Control web interface. The Users table displays user details. If you granted the user User Management privileges in BCC, the User Role displays as Account Admin. Otherwise, it displays as No Permissions.
Click Edit User in the Administrator Actions column for the user. The Edit User page displays.
Select the Preferred Time Zone for this user. All statistics and report data viewed by the user are converted to this time zone.
From the User Role drop-down menu, select the level of permissions. See Understanding Permissions and Roles for a description of each role.
Select one or more connected devices to which the user has access.
Use the Group Permissions section to add the user to a group and automatically set permissions based on group settings. If you are using LDAP authentication, use LDAP Permissions to select LDAP user groups.
Review the Effective Permissions to verify the resulting permissions based on both User Permissions and Group Permissions.
Click Save.
Configure Barracuda Backup Permissions
Click the user's name in the Users table, then click Configure Permissions directly below Backup.
When the configuration page displays, set the following options:
Barracuda Email Notifications – Turn on the notifications this user should receive:
Backup Summary Reports for each appliance daily – A report is sent each day between 8–9am.
Backup Detailed Reports for each backup job – A report is sent each time a backup job completes.
Alerts – An alert is sent if an error occurs during a backup job or if the Barracuda Backup appliance goes offline.
Notices – A notice is sent when the Barracuda Backup Server appliance is updated.
IP Login Restrictions – To restrict the IP address from which this user can sign in, enter a value or range of values.
User Role – Select a role for this user. See Understanding Permissions and Roles for a description of each role.
Grant Access To – For Appliance Administrator and Operator roles, select the backup appliances this user can access. Use Select All Backup Appliances to grant access to all appliances on the account.
Click Save.
Modify a User
In BCC, go to Settings > Admin > Users.
Click on a username in the table. The User Details pane displays where you can modify:
Name – Update the name to identify this user.
Password – Click to send the user an email with instructions to update their password. You cannot modify the password this way if you are using Understanding LDAP Authentication.
Starting Page – Select the product or page to display when the user signs in.
Use the Multi-Factor Authentication section to manage MFA settings. For details, see Multi-Factor Authentication in Barracuda Cloud Control.
Change user access Privileges. For details, see Understanding Permissions and Roles.
Use the Product Entitlements section to change which Barracuda products and services this user can access.
Click Save User to update the user's account.
Remove a User
You must have at least one user attached to an account. Once the last user is removed, the account is permanently unavailable.
Removing a user does not disable the user or delete them from Barracuda Networks' authentication back end. The user's entitlements and privileges on the account are removed, and they no longer have access to any products or services on the account from which they were removed. The next time that user signs in, they are prompted to create or join an existing company account. Note that the account admin can deny a join request.
Note: To strictly control user access, consider integrating your company's LDAP authentication with BCC. See LDAP Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID for details.
To remove a user:
In BCC, go to Settings > Admin > Users.
Click on the username you want to remove from the account.
In the right pane, click Remove User.
Click OK to confirm. The username is removed from the Users list.
