Setting up multi-factor authentication on devices
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides an extra layer of security to your devices, ensuring bad actors can’t access your environment if your password is compromised.
The types of MFA available depend on the applications you have.
Any user can use a MFA app.
Using an MFA app
If you set up an MFA app, you will need to provide the authentication code from the app each time you log in.
Generating recovery passwords
MFA recovery codes are one time use codes for your authenticator app that let you recover access to your account. You may need a recovery code if you can’t access your MFA method, for example, if you lose access to the device that has the MFA application on it.
Requirement You must have added MFA to at least one device before generating MFA recovery codes.
Because you must be logged in to the account to generate MFA recovery codes, it’s best to generate the recovery codes when you add a device and store them in a safe place.
