Setting up a security key for multi-factor authentication

A security key is a phishing-resistant way to verify your identity when you sign in with multi-factor authentication (MFA). Instead of relying on a password or a one-time code, you’ll use a physical WebAuthn-compliant security key to confirm that it’s you accessing your account.

You can also remove a security key that you have set up.

Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you:

• are using one of the following browsers: Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge,

• have your WebAuthn-compliant security key with you,

• access to your account settings, and

• any backup sign-in method required by your organization.

To set up a WebAuthn-compliant security key

1. In the left navigation menu, click the profile icon that displays your username initials, then click Profile.

2. Under Additional MFA options, next to WebAuthn with FIDO Security Keys, click Enroll .

3. Insert your security key.

4. Click Use Security Key .

5. Enter the PIN for your security key.

6. Select Next.

7. Enter a name for your security key.

8. Select Continue.

To remove a WebAuthn-compliant security key

1. In the left navigation menu, click the profile icon that displays your username initials, then click Profile.

2. Under Additional MFA options, next to WebAuthn with FIDO Security Keys, click Remove.

3. Follow the prompts to remove your key.
