How to Restore a Data Source
Performing a restore does not overwrite any current data. Data can only be restored to the same tenant/connection.
For guidance on what steps to take if you still have legacy data and their limitations in the new Restore browser, see Differentiating Between Legacy and Current Data in the New Restore User Interface.
Use the following steps to restore data:
Note: When using the search function, only a single item can be selected and restored at a time.
Log in to BarracudaONE. Click Apps at the bottom left. Select Cloud-to-Cloud Backup.
Navigate to the Restore page from the side navigation menu, and select the desired data source.
Select the folder from which to restore data and locate the email or folder to restore.
Alternatively, to find the items you want to restore, use the search bar or the Filters icon (
) to narrow down your options. See How to Search and Filter a Data Source.
Select the file(s) and folder(s) to restore, and click the Restore button. You can also restore a full user mailbox, site, account, or team.
The Restore dialog box appears.Select to restore to the Original Location or Alternate Location to select a new restore destination.
Exchange – Selecting Alternate Location creates a new folder called "Restores" in the user mailbox.
OneDrive – Selecting Alternate Location creates a new folder called "Restores" in the user drive.
SharePoint – Selecting Alternate Location creates a subsite under the destination site containing the data you selected to restore.
Teams – Selecting Alternate Location creates a new Team Site containing the data you selected to restore. Optionally, if the original owners no longer exist or are disabled, you can set a new team owner through the restore options.
Note: When restoring modern Teams site pages to an alternate location, site pages are restored into the existing Site Pages library of the destination site. Restored site pages are appended with a date-time suffix (for example,
LearnHome_20260706_150947.aspx) and are placed in a needs publishing state. Site editors can view the page, but it is not visible to other users until it is published.
Click Start restore.
To view the restore status, go to the Activities page.
Understanding the "Deleted" Status
In the restore browser, an item may display a Deleted status. This does not mean the item has been removed from your backup; it indicates one of the following:
The item no longer exists in Microsoft 365 – Once an item is deleted on the Microsoft side, it is marked as "Deleted" in the restore browser. The item continues to be retained according to your configured retention policy and can still be restored.
The item is no longer supported for backup – Mailboxes, drives, or other data associated with disabled or unlicensed Microsoft 365 accounts are also marked as "Deleted," as Cloud-to-Cloud Backup can no longer process them. These items remain available for restore based on your retention settings.
