Getting Started
Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup protects your Microsoft 365 and Entra ID data by backing it up directly to secure cloud storage managed by Barracuda. This guide walks you through the initial setup so you can get your first backup running as quickly as possible.
Before You Begin
Before you start, make sure you have the following:
A Barracuda Cloud Control account. If you don't have one, see Logging in to BarracudaONE for instructions.
A valid Cloud-to-Cloud Backup subscription. You can verify your subscription in BarracudaONE. See Activating a product or bundle.
Global administrator credentials for your Microsoft tenant. A global admin is required for the initial connection only and can be changed back to a normal admin after the connection is established.
Product entitlements assigned to any users who need access to Cloud-to-Cloud Backup. See How to Manage Users.
Step 1: Activate Cloud-to-Cloud Backup
Activate your Cloud-to-Cloud Backup subscription to enable the product in Barracuda Cloud Control.
Log in to BarracudaONE. Click Apps at the bottom left. Select Cloud-to-Cloud Backup.
On the Dashboard page, under the Products section, click Activate subscription next to the product you want to activate.
For detailed instructions, see How to Activate Cloud-to-Cloud Backup.
Step 2: Connect Your Microsoft Tenant
Connect Cloud-to-Cloud Backup to your Microsoft tenant so the application can access your data.
Navigate to Backup > Backup sources and click Add source.
Select your data source: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID Basic, or Microsoft Entra ID Premium.
Sign in with a global administrator account and accept the permissions prompts.
Toggle on the data sources you want to back up, assign a retention policy, and click Finish.
Note: Your global administrator credentials are only used during the initial connection and are not saved.
For detailed instructions, see How to Connect to Your Microsoft Tenant.
Step 3: Configure Your Data Sources
Choose which data sources to back up and set your backup preferences.
Navigate to Backup > Backup sources from the side navigation menu.
Enable the data sources you want to protect (for example, Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, or Planner).
Assign a retention policy to each data source. The default retention period is 1 year (365 days). You can create custom policies from the Backup > Retention policies page.
Configure backup selections from the Backup > Backup sources page. Click the Backup section next to a data source to open the configuration drawer, where you can choose what to include or exclude from backup.
Note: Once a data source is enabled, it cannot be turned off.

After the initial backup completes, your data is protected and available for restore, export, or purge operations.
Step 5: Verify Your Backup
After your first backup completes, confirm everything is working as expected.
Check the Dashboard to verify the backup completed successfully and review the item count and data size for each data source.
Navigate to the Restore page and browse your backed-up data to confirm it's accessible.
Check the Activities page for any warnings or errors. For help resolving issues, see Troubleshooting.
Step 6: Configure Email Notifications (Optional)
